Phlox paniculata 'David' (Summer Phlox or Garden Phlox)

Phlox paniculata 'David'
(FLOCKS puh-nick-you-LAH-tuh)

The 'David' Phlox is one of the newest members of many cultivars in the garden phlox family, which has been discovered throughout the years of gardening. The 'David' phlox was discovered in a parking lot in Brandywine Conservancy, West Cheste, PA in 1987. It was found in a population of wild seedlings, which was then named after the spouse of the former director of the conservancy. Many of the cultivars range in a variety of colours such as pinks to salmon, oranges and reds, mauve-purple and to the whites.

This tall selection has large clusters of white flowers over a clump of dark green foliage, which goes beautifully in a back border of a summer garden. It is also known to be mildew resistant. This beautiful phlox has a very sweet fragrance to it, which will attract butterflies for all you butterfly admirers out there! Phlox paniculata'David' is also the perennial of the year 2002!
