| Eagle Lake Nurseries Gardening Tips May 2004 Ornamental Flowering Crab Apple Trees Ornamental Crab Apples offer such a variety of colors to anyone's garden! They have such an exciting abundance of colors; branches are covered in color with blooms of red, white purple and pinks. Bloom time in the spring for these beautiful trees offers every gardener a taste of what to expect for the upcoming season. These trees offer a range of size from 15 ft to 50 ft in height so every garden, small or big can enjoy one. They make a great focal point in ones garden which adds character and fragrance. The foliage ranges from green to a deep purple (wine-red), and the bark offers a range of color also. Most of the crabapple trees are wide spreading and rounded as to where some are columnar and also weeping. They have a slow to medium growth rate and an average to long life span.
