Our Commitment
At Eagle Lake Nurseries, our commitment goes beyond growing quality plants. It is reflected in the relationships we build, the knowledge we share, and the care we bring to every stage of our work.
At Eagle Lake Nurseries, our commitment has always been to grow more than just plants.
We grow relationships, knowledge, and a shared passion for the landscapes that sustain our communities. This Plant Information Guide reflects that commitment. It is more than a catalogue; it’s a resource grounded in local knowledge and decades of prairie growing experience.
Inside, you’ll find not only details on our wide selection of prairie-hardy trees, shrubs, and perennials, but also practical information to help you select, plant, and care for hardy, resilient plants: tools to ensure your success, season after season.
At Eagle Lake, our mission is Growing People that Grow Plants. We believe the future of our industry isn’t only about producing plants, but about empowering people—our customers, our staff, and our communities—with the knowledge and confidence to grow well. That’s why we share not just plants, but also insights, stories, and support that strengthen your work and ours.
We are excited about the future of our industry. More than ever, the value of plants and green infrastructure is being recognized for the vital role they play in healthy cities, resilient environments, and vibrant communities. Together, we have the opportunity to shape landscapes that not only enhance beauty but also improve air quality, support biodiversity, and help address the challenges of climate change.
Thank you for trusting us as your partner in growing. We are proud to work alongside you, and we look forward to what we can achieve together in the seasons ahead.
With gratitude,
Anita Heuver
CEO, Eagle Lake Nurseries Ltd.

Before Your Order Leaves Our Nursery
Plant material is carefully selected and inspected by our experienced team before shipping or pickup. Depending on the plant and season, our preparation process may include:
- Inspecting plant material for overall quality and signs of pests or damage.
- Pruning broken or damaged branches and removing dead foliage or spent flowers where appropriate.
- Assembling and watering orders before loading.
- Using appropriate pest-management practices when seasonal pest pressures require treatment.
- Protecting tree trunks during transportation with waxed cardboard trunk protectors.
- Loading material using experienced staff and specialized tree tarps to help minimize damage in transit.
- Assisting customers picking up at the nursery with appropriate loading, securing, and tarping of their plant material.
Quality Starts in Production
Many of the practices that contribute to quality plant material happen months (or even years) before a plant leaves Eagle Lake.
Trees selected for digging are individually assessed before harvest. Fast-growing trees may be root pruned during production to encourage the development of a stronger, more fibrous root system.
Our wire baskets are appropriately sized to our tree spades, helping us produce tight, stable root balls. Root balls are secured by experienced staff and handled carefully throughout the digging and shipping process to minimize unnecessary movement and stress.
We use treated burlap to help maintain root-ball integrity throughout the digging and shipping season. When trees are gathered for an order, root balls are inspected again and wire baskets are crimped to help ensure they remain firm and secure for transportation and establishment.
Service You Can Rely On
Our sales and shipping teams work closely together to make ordering from Eagle Lake as straightforward and dependable as possible.
We strive to respond promptly to customer inquiries, process orders efficiently, and coordinate deliveries and pickups around customer and production needs. Nursery operations, weather, transportation, and project schedules can occasionally create unexpected changes. When they do, our priority is clear and timely communication so our customers can adjust their plans and minimize disruption.

A Note About Plant Warranty
We stand behind the quality of the plant material we grow, source, select, and ship.
As a wholesale nursery, however, Eagle Lake Nurseries does not provide a warranty or guarantee on plant material after it has been accepted at pickup or delivery. Plants are living products, and their continued health and performance are influenced by factors beyond our control, including transportation after delivery, handling, planting practices, site conditions, irrigation, weather, maintenance, and ongoing care.
Customers are responsible for inspecting plant material at the time of pickup or delivery and notifying Eagle Lake Nurseries promptly of any concerns regarding the condition, quality, quantity, or accuracy of an order.
Our commitment is to provide quality plant material, careful handling, knowledgeable service, and transparent communication throughout the ordering and delivery process.
