Get to know Narinder

We are fortunate that Narinder found us after his long journey from halfway around the world. He grew up on the family farm in Punjab: “Agriculture was in our culture.” They grew crops naturally with no chemical fertilizers, ate what they grew, even made sugar out of the sugar cane they harvested.

His first experiences working in Canada were very challenging but one cold winter day in March 1981, a friend who worked at the nursery gave him a warm invitation to join him on the farm. Narinder never left. Having worked with soil and tractors since his childhood, he got straight to work, learning everything he could from Tony.

He feels good about being on a farm: “We grow plants, we grow life, we grow people.” Everyone needs oxygen, he muses, and “plants give you peace of mind just by watching them grow!”

To the next generation of tree farmers, he encourages young people to pursue agriculture and he feels that the key is passion: “Just talk to them, put them in a team, bring them here and show them what it is like.” Anybody thinking of a career in horticulture should pop by and get inspired by the legacy that Narinder has created.
