Open Farm Days 2025 at Eagle Lake

Eagle Lake Nurseries took part in Alberta Open Farm Days again this August, welcoming 111 visitors to the nursery east of Strathmore.

Open Farm Days is the province-wide weekend when Alberta farms open to the public. In 2025 it ran on August 16 and 17 with 160 farms participating and a theme that hits close to home for an irrigated nursery: “Water, the Lifeblood of Every Farm.”

Guests toured the production fields, met the growers and saw how trees, shrubs and perennials are raised on the prairie, from the greenhouse to the field to the shipping yard. For most visitors it was a first look inside a wholesale nursery and a chance to ask the people who grow the plants what actually survives a Southern Alberta winter.
