A note from Anita Heuver
You may have noticed a new line beside our name: The Nursery for Life.
It replaces the taglines we have used over the years, and it says something we have believed for a long time but had not put into four words. Plants bring life, grow life and extend life, for people as much as for landscapes. They cool our cities, clean the air, support biodiversity and make the places we live, work and gather better.
A nursery that grows them is in the business of life. That is what we want Eagle Lake Nurseries to be: a nursery for life, for the landscapes we supply, for the industry we are part of, for our people and for the communities we serve.
The line sits on top of a few other words that guide how we work.
Our mission is Growing People that Grow Plants.
Growing quality plants takes knowledgeable, capable, committed people, and the future of Eagle Lake depends on investing in both. When our people grow, our plants, our customers and our industry grow with them.
Our values are trust, honesty, reliability, community, respect and resilience.
They were shaped by decades of growing on the prairies and by the example my father, Tony Heuver, set from the day he started the nursery in 1970.
And our culture, which we describe as thriving in a verdant garden, is the soil all of this grows in: a place where long-serving team members pass on what they know, where new people bring new questions, and where we weather storms together.
None of this changes what you will see when you visit the farm or open a delivery from us. The plants are still grown here, for here. You will still hear us say “prairie-strong,” because they are.
What the new line does is say why we do it.
Thank you for growing with us.
