Sandwort
Arenaria montana
Sandwort is a charming alpine perennial groundcover featuring dense, mossy foliage adorned with a profusion of delicate, white star-shaped flowers in spring.
About Sandwort and growing it in Alberta
Thriving in full sun with well-drained soils, it is ideal for rock gardens, borders, gravel paths, and xeric landscapes. Drought tolerant and deer resilient, it forms a tidy mat that suppresses weeds, and light pruning after flowering helps maintain a clean, compact habit while promoting long-lasting vigor and beauty.
