About Sea Buckthorn and growing it in Alberta

Exceptionally hardy and drought tolerant, it thrives in poor, sandy soils and is valued for erosion control, shelterbelts, and wildlife habitat. The nutrient-rich berries are edible and packed with antioxidants, attracting both people and birds. A straightforward shrub requiring little intervention, though may sucker aggressively and is best used in larger or managed landscapes. We have the Askola, Leikora, and Orange Energy varieties available.
