White Spruce
Picea glauca
White Spruce is a conical evergreen with soft green needles, valued for its resilience and adaptability in urban landscapes.
About White Spruce and growing it in Alberta
Thriving in diverse soils and tolerating air pollution and compacted conditions, it is ideal for streets, parks, and large yards. Providing shade, air purification, stormwater management, and wildlife habitat, its strong, upright form also serves as a privacy screen or windbreak. Generally pest-resistant, it may occasionally face spruce budworm or needle cast.
